19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard surfaces

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his maiden title for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging period, winning just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with former coach his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set victory over challenger Moutet.

This represents the player's first trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt since that period of the previous year.

The win also signifies he has secured twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct events.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters together, so to win a championship is really nice," said world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, featuring in that event previously this season.

The player's defensive strategy and frequent reactions on the tennis court had caused some to question if his ability to play at the highest level was over.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging opponent, taking 4 of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair traded service breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his initial ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to force a third set.

Moutet defended 4 early-game chances in a competitive deciding set before the champion won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, Medvedev secured victory with a rally at the net area, with Moutet unable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
